How CBD Works

CBD works by interacting with the endocannabinoid system found in all humans and mammals. CBD mimics the effects of the compounds in our bodies called endogenous cannabinoids. The 2 main endogenous cannabinoids found in the human body are anandamide and 2-AG. These endocannabinoids are part of a regulatory system called the endocannabinoid system.

The discovery of the endocannabinoid system has significantly advanced our understanding of health and disease. It has major implications for nearly every area of medical science and helps to explain how and why CBD is such a versatile compound.

Endocannabinoid System and receptors

There are two endocannabinoid receptors in the body called CB1 and CB2 receptors. CB1 and CB2 receptors are found throughout the body, while the nervous system only has CB1 receptors. CBD affects the signalling between the CB1 and CB2 receptors while THC will interact directly with both the CB1 and CB2 receptors.

The benefits of Cannabidiol (CBD)

Many CBD users report relaxation, faster muscle recovery times, relief from insomnia and better control of many age related symptoms.
